For the Turkey Burgers:
- 1 pound ground turkey (use a mix of light and dark meat for best flavor)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- 4 sesame seed buns
For the Cranberry Sauce:
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
For the Brussels Sprout Coleslaw:
- 2 cups shredded Brussels sprouts
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Make the Cranberry Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, orange juice, sugar, and orange zest.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the cranberries are soft and the sauce has thickened (about 10-15 minutes).
- Allow to cool.
2. Prepare the Brussels Sprout Coleslaw:
- In a bowl, mix shredded Brussels sprouts with mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and mustard.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Toss well to combine and set aside in the fridge to chill.
3. Cook the Turkey Burgers:
- In a bowl, mix ground turkey with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Form into 4 patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side or until fully cooked and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
4. Assemble the Burgers:
- Toast the sesame seed buns lightly.
- Place a turkey patty on each bun.
- Top each patty with a generous spoonful of cranberry sauce.
- Add a heap of Brussels sprout coleslaw on top of the cranberry sauce.
